Ca la Iaia Restaurant is located just off the main Moraira to Teulada road. The name Ca la Iaia may sound rather strange but it is the Valencian language for ‘Granny’s House’. Ca La Iaia is open lunch times after 13.30 and evenings from 18.00 hrs. In the summer the grounds sheltered by rocks on one side enable you to sit outside for your evening meal.
Rustic yet modern and with a stylish combination of decoration, an outstanding wine cellar, well prepared food, the friendly multi-lingual staff. José, the owner is invariably present in the dining room every day.
There is a separate bodega section of the restaurant where they store their wines and cigars. The wine list is one of the most extensive in the whole area.
Everything is home-made and cooked to order. There are dishes like warm salad with small pieces of liver and a balsamic dressing or small red peppers filled with a cod purée as starters. Oxtail served with rice or fillet of pork with a port sauce for the main course. The meat is barbequed in a huge specially-constructed oven over oak wood chippings.
The meat comes from free-range pigs has a wonderful taste.
